The OP Dosing project encompassed the design, supply, installation and commissioning of Orthophosphate Dosing Plants at 38 sites, ranging in size from 0.5 MLD to 160 MLD. The plants were required to address the problems associated with Plumoslovency, (leaching of lead from old pipe work into the domestic water supply)
Surveys of each site were carried out, and designs drawn up for both civil and M&E requirements on each specific site.
The design ethos was a modular design, consisting of:
• Bulk OP Acid Storage tank
• Chemical Spill Tank and delivery Apron
• OP Dosing Skid with Duty / Standby Arrangement
• Control Panel with associated telemetry
• Kiosk (for sites with no suitable building to house plant)
• H&S Equipment such as safety Showers etc.
A pilot plant was constructed at Dunore WTW so as to allow demonstration of the design ethos to the various DRD Water Service Operation and M&E personnel through-out N Ireland.
