The Department for Regional Development Minister Shaun Woodward today announced that Glen Water has been selected as the preferred bidder for the Project Omega Public Private Partnership (PPP) for wastewater treatment and sludge disposal.
Glen Water is a consortium formed by Thames Water and Laing O'Rourke to develop potential business within the Northern Ireland water industry. "By working together with local partners and local communities, Glen Water is committed to delivering value for money and sustainable water solutions to support the economic future of Northern Ireland. Project Omega will bring investment to the clean up of rivers and seas around the coastline and the creation of local jobs."
The project involves:-

Upgrading six existing wastewater facilities, located at Ballynacor, Bullays Hill, Seagoe, Armagh, Richhill and Ballyrickard
Upgrading, opera tion and maintenance of a number of existing wastewater sludge facilities
Construction of a second incinerator at Duncrue Street in Belfast
