WIS Completes £1.4M Letterbreen Project
Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) has opened a new state-of-the-art Wastewater Treatment Works in Letterbreen, Co. Fermanagh. The facility, which received an investment of approximately £1.4million, has been designed to meet registered discharge standards set by Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
Serving a population of approximately 500 from the surrounding area, the new Works has been designed to serve the area and accommodate growth well into the future.
The Chairman of Fermanagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O'Reilly, who officially opened the new Works, said:
"I am delighted NI Water has made this investment in a new Wastewater Treatment Works for the Letterbreen area. Residents and businesses will undoubtedly benefit from an improved quality of service which has the capacity to deal with a growing population".
David Hilary, Head of Wastewater South & West, added:
"The contract for Letterbreen Wastewater Treatment Works commenced in 2006. We would like to thank the public for their patience during the construction period and hope this investment by NI Water is a clear sign of our commitment to bringing the wastewater system up to the highest standard possible. Recent investment in Belcoo, Ballinamallard, Irvinestown, and the ongoing Enniskillen Wastewater Treatment Works will bring investment in the area to approximately £20 million.
This project was a working partnership between Williams Industrial Services, BSG civil engineering, Doran Consulting, and Northern Ireland Water.
